Jared Biocca of Ashton Cigars, La Aroma de Cuba, San Cristobal

Our “Rep’s Corner” guest today is Jared Biocca of Ashton Cigars.  Some of the other cigar lines that fall under the Ashton halo are: San Cristobal, La Aroma de Cuba, Sosa, and Benchmade.  Here is a brief bio on Mr. Jared.

Jared started working in a cigar store “Anthony’s Cigar Emporium”  in Tuscon Arizona in 1997.  Where he became manager and worked until 2002.  Jared was contacted by Ashton in late 2001 after he had been hounding them for 2 or 3 years, and offered him an interview for a job.  He became the youngest sales rep in the country, and possibly universe, he insists.  His wife plucks his eyebrows on a bi-weekly basis.  More on Jared’s “manscaping” in the future…

Mr. Jared, can you give us a brief overview of the La Aroma de Cuba line?  It has seen some changes and some great additions over the last few years.

Right now the La Aroma de Cuba brand is a juggernaut especially the the original blend and the Mi Amor lines.  There are three different blends in the brand, each one hits a different flavor profile and price point.   The classic line or “LADC” is medium to full bodied with deep rich flavors and very affordable. The Edicion Especial or “EE” is a bit milder to medium bodied and  the most approachable of the three, it received a top 10 rating in 09 and is one of the cigars that you can just smoke one after the other. The Mi Amor is the newest of three and is the most complex and beautifully balanced cigars I have ever smoked.

Can we expect anything new?

Couple new projects that we are very excited about.  Can’t really comment.

What is the Basic Make up of the cigar line?

La de Cuba Classic makeup: Nicaraguan binder and filler with a Connecticut broad leaf maduro wrapper, and is medium bodied.

La Aroma Edicion Especial : Nicaraguan binder and filler, with an Ecuadorian wrapper.  This is more of a mild-medium body.

Mi amor: Nicaraguan  binder and filler with a  Mexican wrapper, medium-full body.
