La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinet No.1 Review
Wrapper: Aged Cameroon Ligero (top 4 priming’s of the plant)
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Dominican grown on LFD farm
Price: $8.72
Vitola: 6.5×44
Drink: water (I don’t recommend drinking water with this cigar)
Appearance & Construction: Exceptionally dark and oily Cameroon wrapper (not what I’m used to seeing from Cameroon). Love the new maroon LFD band that they have on now. No flaws but very “rustic” looking. I’m guessing since it’s a ligero. The entire smoke had a perfectly smooth bright white ash and razor sharp burn. That is always a pleasant experience to have with a cigar. A finicky cigar is annoying, even if it has great flavor.
Pre-light: Been lucky lately. Perfect draw once again. I get a faint note of black pepper off the foot of the cigar. The pre-light draw brings nothing but chocolate taste. Exactly the way Coco Krispies taste.
Flavor & Notes: I get a very earthy and spicy taste right off of the light, starts off with a punch too. Into the first third the cigar mellows down significantly, starting to get a chocolate and roasted nut flavor. Very reminiscent of those stands that sell the hot almonds and pecans that are sweet and spiced. Loving this so far. I’m also getting a unique citrus aftertaste. But this is a good thing, it’s like the citrus you get off of say a orange blossom honey. WOW. Getting past the half way mark going into the final third, the spanish cedar note is starting to dominate, along with a taste of a breakfast blend coffee. Very bright and acidic, this is not a bad thing by any means. This is finishing up nicely, very rich spicy spanish ceder with a slight leather undertone now.
Body: A smooth full body, especially for a typical Cameroon, which this is not!
Overall Smoking Expdrience: Nothing else to say, this was awesome for me. This is a great change of pace for me and my typical smoke. We have never carried this cigar, and can’t wait for our first shipment to come in. I feel this cigar would be perfect with a quality rum. Maybe some Ron Zacpa 23 or XO if you can find it, or the old faithful Zaya.
Gabe’s Rating: 8.5 out of 10
Chooch Factor: .5 out of 5. This cigar is widely known, but still a best kept secret in the industry I feel. I think the “true” cigar smoker knows about La Flor and what they bring to the table. Still not the chooch cigar of choice
Buy Again: HELL YES! Can’t wait till we get them here at the shop
